The Columbus Crew released their new primary kit for the 2014 season earlier today. The last ever jersey with the original crest.
From the field to the beach!
With the impending Columbus Crew crest change of 2015 approaching, a few people have taken to designing their own renditions of the new Crew identity.
The first one came by way of Mark Willis’ website. His in-depth blueprint covers plenty of issues, such as what needs to stay, what needs to change, certain influences, and how it can be used to help promote the team in a great number of ways.
For February, my good friend over at Massive City FFC created a crest for every day of the month, each accompanied by beautiful writing. My favorite of the bunch is the Roy Lichtenstein inspired piece above. What’s great about this series is the history, knowledge, and culture of Columbus that is present in every design. I highly suggest reading through all the posts.
Personally, I love the Crew’s current crest and all the quirkiness that it contains. It may be different, but it’s all we’ve ever known. And it’s ours.
